How to defeat Eggman
The rocket phase, the attack window and the differences between Eggman Encounter (stage 8) and Eggman Showdown (stage 12).
The browser campaign has two boss stages: Eggman Encounter (stage 8) and Eggman Showdown (stage 12). Neither has an obstacle course or a distance finish. Each battle repeats the same cycle until you land three successful attacks or run out of shields.
The battle cycle
- Dodge. Eggman fires a volley of rockets — five in stage 8, six in stage 12. A lane warning appears before each rocket; move out of the marked lane.
- Launch. After the volley you launch into the air and the attack interface appears.
- Strike. Wait for the moving sight to line up with the target and the button to show STRIKE NOW, then press Space or tap STRIKE.
- Repeat. A successful attack removes one of Eggman’s three hit points and the cycle starts again.

Stage 8 rocket lanes
In Eggman Encounter each rocket has a one-second warning followed by a 1.4-second flight, and launches are a little over two seconds apart. The lane order depends on how many hits you have landed:
| Volley | Rocket lanes in order |
|---|---|
| Before the first hit | Centre → Left → Right → Centre → Right |
| After one hit | Left → Right → Centre → Right → Left |
| After two hits | Right → Centre → Right → Left → Centre |
The lane warning is the reliable signal — the order above is useful for anticipating, but always move according to what is marked on screen.
Timing the attack
The attack window opens when the sights align and the button changes to STRIKE NOW. Pressing early, pressing late or not pressing at all counts as a miss: you lose one shield and the hit count does not advance. After a miss, the battle returns to another rocket volley.

The most common mistake is pressing repeatedly while waiting. Watch the sights rather than the button, and press once.
What changes in stage 12
Eggman Showdown keeps the same structure and the same attack timing window. The difference is the rocket phase: six rockets per volley instead of five, launched slightly closer together and travelling slightly faster. Three successful hits still win the battle. It is not a separate multi-phase boss.
Stars in boss stages
- Defeat Eggman.
- Finish without missing an attack opportunity.
- Keep all three shields — so every rocket you avoid matters.
Eggman Encounter is available in Practice mode at stage 8 difficulty. Practice is a good way to learn the timing; it does not award stars or unlock stages.
