How Dash and Ring Magnet work

How many rings fill the Dash meter, how long Dash and Ring Magnet last, and when each one helps or hurts.

Version 1.3.2

The browser campaign gives you two abilities beyond running, jumping and rolling: Dash, which you charge by collecting rings, and Ring Magnet, which you unlock by finishing Sky Bridges. They solve different problems, and using them at the wrong moment can cost you a star.

When to use Dash

Dash is most useful on a stretch you can read clearly. It pushes through ordinary obstacles, but it also shortens the time between decisions. On Sky Bridges that matters: Dash does not protect you from a missing section of bridge, and the extra speed gives you less time to spot a yellow take-off strip.

On the later coastal stages — Rapid Rapids and Final Ascent — obstacle groups come quickly. Save Dash for a section where you can already see the next few rows, rather than firing it as soon as the meter fills.

When to use Ring Magnet

Normally rings need a close pass: running in the neighbouring lane does not collect them. Magnet widens that reach for eight seconds, which lets you collect rows across several lanes while you stay in the lane that is safest for the next obstacle.

Magnet Meadows (stage 3) is built around this. Extra three-lane ring rows run from 48 m to 536 m. Activating Magnet in the first few metres wastes part of its duration before those rows begin — wait until you can see rings across neighbouring lanes.

Using both together

Each ring Magnet pulls in also adds to the Dash meter, so a well-timed Magnet can refill Dash. A sensible order on a dense stretch is: Magnet when the rows appear, keep your lane choices simple while it runs, and hold Dash until you reach a section you can read clearly.

Practice

The Try Ring Magnet practice option loads Magnet Meadows with a temporary Magnet charge, even before you have unlocked it in the campaign. It does not permanently unlock the ability or award stars.
